Who we are
The Puerto Rico Scoring Orchestra (PRS Orchestra) is an orchestra specialized in studio work for films, video games, and media. The orchestra is formed by some of the best musicians in Puerto Rico, some of them members of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Puerto Rico, and graduates of the Conservatorio de Música de Puerto Rico. The project is led by media composer David De León, conductor Rocío del Mar Portes and film composer Diego A. González. With many years of experience as musicians in every genre we are committed to take your music to the next level.
Meet The Team
David de León - CEO
Starting early on his studies in the Escuela Libre De Música Ernesto Ramos Antonini, where he studied Double Bass and performed at the Carnigie Hall with the school’s symphonic orchestra at the age of 16. He continued his studies at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico in Jazz and Caribbean Music with the electric bass, and is now undergoing an MFA in Video Games and Media composition in Thinkspace Education.
He is determined to bring Puerto Rico’s rich musical culture into the competitive field of orchestral recordings for films, tv and video games.
Diego A. González - CFO
Graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico with extended studies in composition at the Mozarteum Salzburg. Oversees the financial planning and sustainability of the orchestra and works as a composer for media on short films and independent projects.
Currently completing an MBA in Finance, with a focus on building a solid and transparent financial foundation for PRSO.
Rocío del Mar Portes - Conductor
Oboist and conductor, currently serves as Associate Conductor for the Orquesta Sinfónica Juvenil de Puerto Rico, Chief Conductor of the Orquesta de Guitarras de Puerto Rico, and is a substitute musician of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra. Graduate of the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico in Oboe Performance, she simultaneously started conducting under the mentorship of Maestro Rafael Enrique Irizarry (Associate Conductor of the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra). She has taken part in masterclasses with Maestros like Harry Lang, Carmen Acevedo Lucio and Guillermo Figueroa. She also participated as conductor in The Conductors Institute of South Carolina under the mentorship of Dr. Donald Portnoy, Victoria Bond and Peter Jaffe, and in New York’s Maestro Masterclass under the mentorship of Maestra Dianne Wittry.
Meet the Studio
Led by recording engineer Yamil Martinez (Luis Fonsi, Alex Campos), Yamil Martínez is a specialist in delivering innovative and creative solutions that provoke, capture, and amplify the emotional essence of a musical performance. Yamil has contributed to several Grammy Award–winning projects, among others. When not touring, Yamil works at L’8A, the studio officially named Antonio Luis Ochoa and part of the Astra Studios complex, commonly known as “El Ochoa.”
L’8A occupies the acoustic space of Puerto Rico’s first independent studio (founded in 1951), a hub of Caribbean and Latin American music a. In that space, often called “The Cathedral of Sound” or “The Caribbean Abbey Road”, Yamil serves as technical director and resident mixer/producer.
